Oil on canvas. 60 X 50.5 cm (oval). Inv. No 1228 Andrei Shuvalov (1744—1789) was a poet and an Honorary Member of the Academy of Arts in St Petersburg. Met Voltaire, carried on a correspondence with him and other figures of the French Enlightenment. The picture is a companion piece to the portrait of Countess E. Shuvalova (The Hermitage, Inv.
